Weston Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy Attorney
Put Decades of Experience on Your Side
Out of all the different forms of birth injuries that may be caused by doctor or nurse negligence, hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is considered one of the most dangerous. If your child was born and you were told that they were afflicted by HIE and were not given reasoning as to why, it could be due to the mistakes of the hospital staff. Before you rule out the illness as a random chance or an unpreventable side effect of certain pregnancies, you should let our Weston HIE attorney at Rash Mueller know what happened.
You should choose to work with us because we have:
- 40+ years of collective legal experience
- AV® Preeminent™ Rating by Martindale-Hubbell®

Symptoms of HIE in Infants
Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy occurs when the newborn's oxygen supply to the brain and other vital organs is dramatically reduced. Sometimes HIE is caused by complications during the pregnancy but proper prenatal care may be able to correct it. Other times, HIE is directly caused by the actions of the birthing team, or their inaction.
It is possible that hospital staff did not notify you that your infant was suffering from HIE, either because they failed to diagnose it, or did not believe it was a serious issue. If your child is exhibiting any of the following symptoms, please contact your physician immediately:
- Weak pulse
- Labored or shallow breaths
- Blue or pale skin
- Lack of hunger or feeding habits
- Lethargic movements
