Medical Malpractice Case Arises After Toe Amputations in Chicago

|

Medical practitioners are capable of making mistakes in the workplace, just like everyone else. Only, the mistakes they make may cost people their livelihood, and may call for serious legal action to set things right. Thus is the case for a Chicagoland man, Mr. Jenkins.

Jenkins is suing the Presence Resurrection Medical Center, his doctor Prashant Joshi, and Illinois Cancer Specialists after he believes medical malpractice cost him his toes. In November of 2013, he came to the medical center due to blood clots that had formed in his calves and one lung. He claims he was given no blood thinners and treated with no further testing, which ultimately caused complications in his extremities. The final result was the amputation of his toes due to misdiagnosing his white blood cell count.

Mr. Jenkins is suing for more than $50,000 for physical pain and medical expenses. At this time, it is unclear how the case will develop. The defendants have yet to release an official response to his lawsuit and may be working on a case to use to deny his claims, or perhaps negotiate a settlement.
